Now that we have survived another harsh Chicago winter, you may find that your skin is not looking its best. Blustery winds, cold temperatures, and dry air inside can do quite a number on your skin, making it seem dull and lackluster. In fact, you may even notice a few more wrinkles or itchy dry patches. You don’t want to be caught in your summer dresses, shorts, and bathing suits with your skin in the shape it’s in right now. Fortunately, you can start bringing your skin back to life with a few new habits this season.

Up Your Water Intake
Summer temperatures can increase your chance of dehydration, and your skin will suffer. Be sure you are taking in plenty of water throughout your activities this season.

Go Easy on the Cocktails
A margarita or refreshing cocktail every now and again is not going to damage your skin, but drinking too much alcohol can cause breakouts and a duller complexion. The extra sugar and the dehydrating effects of alcohol can keep you looking less than your best, so be sure to enjoy in moderation.

Moisturize Twice Per Day
Dry skin can lead to wrinkles and itching, neither of which is something you want to contend with this summer. Moisturize your skin at least twice per day – once in the morning and once before bed. Don’t forget the bottoms of your feet as well; those summer sandals can cause wear and tear so give that part of your body some love as well.

Don’t Skimp on Sunscreen
Sun damage from UVA and UVB rays can increase your risk of skin cancer, as well as increase wrinkles. Apply sunscreen that has a high SPF number and that is broad spectrum, meaning it blocks UVA and UVB rays.
