Sun Skincare Basics

We survived a historically frigid season! Now that the winter is behind us for another year, it is time to focus on keeping your skin healthy throughout the summer. Brush up on your summer skincare habits by going back to the basics for vibrant and glowing skin.

Carry Sunscreen

Sunshine feels great, especially after our cold winter, but the sun’s rays are harmful to your skin. Be sure you are using sunscreen when you are outside. Your face lotion should feature an SPF of at least 15 to keep wrinkles or other damage at bay. When it comes to your body, you should increase the SPF number for any exposed skin. Be especially careful if you tend to burn easily, and reapply sunblock often throughout your day.

Stay Covered Up

Sunscreen is crucial for keeping your skin healthy and wrinkle-free. However, you can protect yourself even more by choosing to cover up. Seek out shady spots to rest during the day and try protective clothing like a wide-brimmed hat or clothing that sports SPF protection.

Moisturize

Summer sun and heat can leave your skin feeling dry. Prevent irritation, redness, and wrinkles by moisturizing daily. Your facial and body lotion should not leave your skin feeling oily, but soft. If you aren’t sure if you are using the correct moisturizer for your skin type, talk to your dermatologist to assure you are making the best decision.
