What is the IPL PhotoFacial at GOLDCOAST Medspa ?
Intense Pulse Light (IPL) photofacial treatment is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses broad-spectrum light to target and improve various pigmentary skin conditions. This advanced elos technology by Syneron®️ works by delivering rapid pulses of light energy to the deeper layers of the skin, triggering natural collagen production and stimulating cellular renewal.
IPL photofacial treatment is versatile as it can effectively treat an array of areas such as the face, neck, déclotté, hands, arms, chest to name a few. Unlike other traditional lasers which only work on one specific wavelength at a time, our IPL device uses multiple wavelengths simultaneously for optimal results. This allows for precise targeting of different skin pigmentations with minimal discomfort.

What to expect
During an IPL session, a trained technician will apply a cooling gel to your skin before using the IPL handpiece to deliver several brief flashes of light across the entire treatment area or specific target areas.
Although you may feel some discomfort (heat sensation), the treatment is generally well-tolerated due to the cooling effect created by the gel application.
Most patients experience dry skin and the darkening of their pigmentation also known as “coffee grounds” as the skin is slowly and gently sloughing off the darkening of the pigmentation.
* It is important not to pick at your skin during this shedding phase
* A series of treatments is recommended once every 4-6 weeks
* IPL therapy is not recommended for darker skin tones

Post Care
Right after your IPL session the goal is to soothe, protect and support your skin’s natural healing process
1. Avoid harsh skincare products containing retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, alcohol and fragrance until the skin has healed (approx. 3-10 days)
2. Apply a cold compress to soothe any inflammation
3. Apply a broad spectrum 30+ sunscreen during daylight hours; reapplying every 2 hours
4. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, tanning beds, spray tans, tanning lotions for at least 1 week or until skin has healed
5. Avoid use of saunas, hot showers, steam rooms and intense sweating 24 – 48 hours post treatment
6. Use soothing recovery creams (Avene Cicalfate), cold aloe vera gel, Eucerine for dry skin, recovery creams with shea butter and glycerin, sunscreen and gentle skincare to avoid over compromising the skin barrier
7. DO NOT pick at your skin
